Here we go......

G’day all.  Well as you can see, we’ve created this page so friends and family can find us and see what we’re up to.

Our plan is to circumnavigate Australia and New Zealand anti-clockwise – while working as we need to fund this adventure.  We actually started our trip before launching this website so we here’s a little background…  have done a little historical backtracking from this date…...

We purchased the lovely ‘Sundancer 2’ (SD2) in March 2020 from Ian ‘Bugs’ and Helen Potter – a few weeks before the entire world shut down – thank you COVID. For us, this crazy period of lockdowns ended up being a blessing in disguise. We worked on SD2 and did some short sailing trips around Sydney and the Pittwater, getting to know and trust her more. It gave us time to understand what a little beauty of a yacht we had and why Bugs and Hellen were so reluctant to sell her.

Finally in early 2023 we left our ‘Boat House’ in Sydney, moving onboard to start our adventure. We arrived in the beautiful town of Yamba in the Northern Rivers on Good Friday 2023. Yamba had been recommended (thanks Perry) for work on the rigging with Scooter Sails and we planned to stay for about 3 months.  How plans do change 😉   We ended up staying in Yamba until 2024, leaving almost a year to the day we arrived.  This was not a hardship, Yamba is a great little town and we loved our time there. We arrived in the Gold Coast early April and have spent the last month (between the torrential rain and working) exploring the waterways between the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

We are now in Morten Bay, trying to dry off while doing some repairs and catching up with family and friends (and using their hot showers and washing machines).   Tomorrow we sail to Mooloolaba for a few days and then north again to K’Gari (Fraser) Island.  The aim is to be in Airlie Beach by July for work for the Whitsunday season.

Watch this space…….
